PT HOUSE

icw. MMXV Architecture

Duinbergen, Belgium

2020 - 2021

This house is the last untouched property on the street in the well-known villa district of Duinbergen. Situated only 200 meters from the beach, the location alone makes it a gem. Originally built with yellow bricks, the house has been renovated to match the style of the ‘Zoute’, with white-painted bricks and red roof tiles. The renovation involved stripping the house down to the brick, enlarging the old window openings to the ground, and adding a staircase to maximize the house's volume. A floating terrace was added to the outdoor space as a striking feature.

The decision to use the same materials consistently throughout the entire project was intentional, to create unity and tranquility. Smoked oak was used for all furniture, and the same natural stone, 'Emprador Black', was used in the kitchen and bathrooms. The use of sandstone Pietra Bicci in the entrance hall is a nod to the nearby beach, just a few footsteps away.
